Booking & pricing

Budget

What does wedding photography on film cost?

Most full wedding days fall between €3,500 and €4,500, depending on the hours of coverage. Extras like a second photographer or an album are optional and quoted separately. Every quote is prepared individually, and everything that's included is on the pricing page.

First steps

How does booking work?

We start by getting to know each other, over coffee in Berlin or a video call from wherever you are. Choosing a photographer means choosing someone who'll be beside you the whole day, so it should feel right from the very first conversation. When you're ready, a signed agreement and a 30% booking fee reserve your date.

Plan B

What happens if we need to postpone or cancel?

If your date moves, I'll do everything I can to carry your booking fee over to the new date when I'm available. Full terms are set out in the booking agreement, and I'm always happy to talk them through before you commit.

Beyond Berlin

Do you travel for weddings?

Absolutely. I am based in Berlin and travel for weddings across Germany and throughout Europe, most recently as far as Okinawa. Travel within two hours of Berlin is included. For anything beyond that, costs are laid out clearly in your quote.

The wedding day

Formats

Do you photograph elopements or multi-day weddings?

Yes, gladly: a civil ceremony, an elopement, one full day, or a celebration that runs across several days.

The medium

Do you shoot both film and digital?

Just film. It's the way I see weddings. I carry a Contax 645 and a couple of 35mm cameras.

Low light

Can film handle difficult light?

Yes. I plan for low light in advance and choose film stock and equipment to match. A dark church or a candlelit dinner looks different from daylight, and that atmosphere is allowed to stay in the pictures.

At ease

What if we're camera-shy?

Most couples tell me exactly this, and it is partly why film suits them. I keep the pace calm and give direction only when it helps. I wait, watch, and photograph moments that are already happening. There are no stiff poses, and after a while most people forget I am there.

Second camera

Do you work alone or with a team?

I photograph most weddings on my own. When a day is large or spread across locations, a second photographer joins me, on film like everything else.

Language

Do you work with international and English-speaking couples?

Often. Many of my couples are international, living in Berlin or marrying here from abroad. We can plan everything, and spend the wedding day itself, in English or German.

Film, delivery & finishing

Selection

How many photographs will we receive?

For a full wedding day, you can expect around 300 to 500 finished photographs, developed, scanned and edited with care. Film makes me choose my moments deliberately, so every image in your gallery is there for a reason.

Timing

When will we receive our photographs and films?

Film needs some time to be developed and scanned. I send a sneak peek within the first two weeks after the wedding. The full gallery, along with any films, is delivered within six to eight weeks.

The originals

Do we get to keep the negatives?

Yes. Along with the scans, you keep the original negatives from your wedding. Stored well, they last for generations.

Care

Are the photographs professionally retouched?

Yes, and always gently. Film is kind to skin all on its own. I'll tidy the small distractions, a stray hair or a blemish. You'll look like yourself.

Resolution

How large can the photographs be printed?

The standard scans print beautifully at album and framing sizes, up to around 30 × 40 cm. For larger wall prints, individual negatives can be rescanned at higher resolution. Medium format film enlarges remarkably well; a single frame can hold a poster-sized print.

On paper

Can we order prints and albums?

Yes, and film was made for printing. Fine art prints and handcrafted lay-flat albums are available through the specialist labs I work with, made to do justice to the film originals.
