Sugano and Jonas celebrated in Okinawa with 120 guests and a full programme that ran the length of the day. Family arrived, speeches began, music started, a wonderful meal was served, and there was rarely a quiet moment.

It was a big, warm, fast-moving celebration on the other side of the world. Photographing a day this full on film means staying alert and choosing each frame deliberately. It is also the clearest answer to a question I am often asked: yes, the way I work travels, even far from Berlin.
